NBC Sports Group's coverage of the 2016 cycling season continues as NBC Sports Gold begins exclusive live coverage of the 2016 TOUR OF BRITAIN this Sunday, September 4, at 6 a.m. ET, with Stage 1 from Glasgow to Castle Douglas. NBC Sports Gold's live coverage of the eight-stage race continues daily, culminating on Sunday, September 11.
Universal HD will televise nightly encore presentations of each stage of the race, beginning Sunday at 9 p.m. ET with Stage 1. Defending Tour of Britain champion Edvald Boasson Hagen (Dimension Data) is expected to return, facing competition from Bradley Wiggins (Wiggins) and Mark Cavendish (Dimension Data), both of whom earned Olympic medals for Team Great Britain in Rio. They will be joined by Rio Olympic time trial silver medalist Tom Dumoulin (Giant Alpecin) of the Netherlands. This year's route features a start in the center of Glasgow, with stops in the Lake District, Wales, Bristol and Bath, before the finale in the center of London, with the iconic circuit finishing on Regent Street St James. Hugh Porter (play-by-play) and Brian Smith (analyst) will commentary for 2016 Tour of Britain coverage on NBC Sports Gold.
