NBC Sports Group kicks off the 2014 MLS regular-season with 2013 MLS Cup Champion Sporting Kansas City against Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday, March 8, at 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN, immediately following Premier League coverage. 2013 MLS Cup MVP Aurelien Collin and Sporting Kansas City look to defend their title in the season opener against the Sounders and Nigerian forward Obafemi Martins, who has scored 103 professional goals in 316 appearances in some of Europe's top leagues.

COMMENTATORS: NBC Sports Group's lead play-by-play announcer John Strong will call the match and will be joined by former U.S. Men's National Team midfielder Kyle Martino and host Russ Thaler.

Strong on Seattle Sounders FC v. Sporting Kansas City: "This has the potential to be a watershed year for soccer in America, and the hype surrounding the MLS opener from fans and journalists alike is so much fun to be a part of. We couldn't start the year a better way: with champions Sporting Kansas City facing off with Seattle and the biggest home crowd in the league. And, with four potential U.S. World Cup starters on the field, it'll be something else."
