NBC has set Wednesday, June 1 (10-11 p.m.) as the premiere date for the third season of its medical drama series THE NIGHT SHIFT and Monday, June 13 (10-11 p.m.) as the preview of the highly anticipated new alternative competition series SPARTAN: ULTIMATE TEAM CHALLENGE.

"The Night Shift" focuses on a team of doctors and nurses at San Antonio Memorial's emergency room that are anything but ordinary. The risks they take to save lives straddle the line between heroic and impulsive, but are always worth it.

"Night Shift" debuted in the summer of 2014 and scored as the #1 new series introduced on the Big 4 networks that summer in both adults 18-49 (1.9 rating, 6 share) and total viewers (8.5 million viewers overall). Its second season aired during the spring of 2015 as "Night Shift" averaged a 1.8/6 in adults 18-49 and 7.0 million viewers overall, keeping NBC within 0.4 of a rating point of the time-period lead during its run in the competitive Monday 10-11 p.m. ET hour.

The series stars Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Ken Leung, Brendan Fehr, Robert Bailey Jr., JR Lemon, Tanaya Beatty and Scott Wolf.

"The Night Shift" is produced by Sony Pictures Television. Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah ("Freaks and Geeks," "Diary of a Wimpy Kid") serve as executive producers and writers.

Following previews on June 13 and June 20 with "American Ninja Warrior" as its lead-in, "Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge" will shift to its regular 9 p.m. timeslot on Thursday, June 23.

Inspired by SPARTAN RACE - the creators of the world's most demanding obstacle course races - "Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge" raises the bar on team competitions. Groups of friends, families, co-workers and more must work together as they race across specially designed Spartan courses engineered to test their determination, endurance and will. Teams of five will compete on one the most demanding courses ever devised and will have to push through the pain to win $250,000.

"Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge" is executive produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions' founders Arthur Smith and Kent Weed ("Hell's Kitchen," "Unsung," "Ellen's Design Challenge"), along with Anthony Storm ("American Ninja Warrior").
