NBC Nightly News Draws Largest Total Viewer Audience in 5 Weeks

"NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" continued as America's most-watched network evening newscast for the week ending January 3, 2014, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

Nightly averaged 10.1 million total viewers and 2.6 million viewers in the key demo A25-54, marking its largest audiences in both categories in five weeks (week of 11/25/13, Thanksgiving week).

NOTE: due to the New Year's holiday, all three broadcasts were retitled on Tuesday and Wednesday and are based on 3-day averages (Mon, Thurs, Fri).

Season-to-date, Nightly is up the most in total viewer delivery versus last season and has widened its total viewer advantage over ABC by +34% versus the same period last year. Also season-to-date, Nightly is delivering its biggest total viewer audience (8.999 million) to start a season since 2006 and its best advantage over ABC (+1,040,000) since 2010.

Weekly Highlights:

· Nightly delivered 10.147 million total viewers, +952,000 more than ABC World News' 9.195 million and +2,613,000 more than CBS Evening News' 7.534 million.
· Nightly averaged a 6.5/12 Household rating, ahead of ABC's 6.0/11 and CBS' 4.8/8.
· Nightly delivered a 2.2 A25-54 rating, +3 tenths ahead of ABC's 1.9 and +7 tenths more than CBS's 1.5 rating.
· Among A25-54 (000), Nightly averaged 2.582 million viewers, +307,000 ahead of World News' 2.275 million, and +742,000 ahead of Evening News' 1.840 million.

Trends:

· Nightly has won in total viewers for 225 consecutive weeks, and in 272 of the past 273 weeks.
· Nightly has won in viewers A25-54 for 266 of the past 267 weeks.
