NBC News has been honored with four national 2011 Edward R. Murrow awards, more than any other network. The national and local winners were announced today by The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) and will be presented at the RTDNA Awards dinner in New York on October 10, 2011. The Murrow awards honor excellence in electronic journalism.
For the third consecutive year, NBC News was honored with the esteemed Murrow award for Overall Excellence in the network news category.
"NBC Nightly News" was honored with the best Video Newscast for "Iraq: The Long Way Out"-a live report by NBC News Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel that followed the last remaining U.S. combat troops as they left Iraq.

"Dateline NBC" was recognized in the News Documentary category for Richard Engel's report, "A Father's Mission"- an in-depth look at the Battle of Wanat, one of the deadliest battles of the Afghanistan war, and how the families of the Chosen Company platoon are struggling with the death of their sons.
