NBC News Peacock Productions Expands L.A. Office

NBC News' Peacock Productions is expanding its Los Angeles office. The award-winning production company announced today that Melody Shafir has joined as Vice President of Development, based in Los Angeles. In this newly created position, Shafir will oversee all of Peacock Production's U.S. development, including the newly expanded Los Angeles office, New York and Miami. Shafir will be responsible for all original programming, series and format development for Peacock Productions. She will report to Benjamin Ringe, Peacock Productions' Senior Vice President of Development and Executive Producer. Sharon Scott is the President and General Manager of Peacock Productions.

"Melody has a proven track record of developing and executive producing countless highly successful series in her career," said Ringe. "She is an excellent choice to expand Peacock Productions' presence as leaders in nonfiction programming and we are thrilled to have her on board."

Prior to Peacock Productions, Shafir served as an Executive Producer at BBC Worldwide Productions. During her time there, Shafir developed various titles including, USA's "Vanderbilt MDs," Bravo's "Ladies of London," OWN's "Lives on Fire," BBC America's "Mud, Sweat and Gears" and TLC's "Bama Belles." Additionally, Shafir served as a show runner on "Vanderbilt MDs" and "Lives on Fire."
