NBC News today launched a Health & Wellness section on its Parent Toolkit website, a one-stop online resource for parents navigating their children's development in the classroom and beyond. Produced by NBC News' Education Nation and sponsored by Pearson, the new section contains essential exercise and nutrition information, broken down by grade level. The Parent Toolkit was featured this morning on 'TODAY.'

Building on research that links physical activity, healthful eating and adequate sleep to improved academic performance, the Health & Wellness section contains grade-by-grade physical activity, sleep, and nutrition tips based on national standards. Experts in the fields of pediatrics, nutrition, sleep, exercise, obesity prevention, and hygiene contributed to the digital initiative. The section also features recommendations from the United States Department of Agriculture, the American Heart Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. America's Promise Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising graduation rates, is a Knowledge Partner of the Parent Toolkit. Using the Toolkit, parents can also access academic benchmarks and tips for pre-k through high school. A Social & Emotional Development section will launch later this year. In addition to these online resources, parents can join the conversation online using #ParentToolkit.About NBC News
