NBC NIGHTLY NEWS Wins Demo Again, Up +9% Year-Over-Year

NBC NIGHTLY NEWS WITH LESTER HOLT ranked #1 in the demo for the week of October 10, averaging 2 million A25-54 viewers, leading "ABC World News Tonight" by +256,000 (15%) and "CBS Evening News" by 476,000 (+31%). Nightly News more than doubled its margin of win vs. ABC in the demo (+256,000 win vs. last year's +121,000) from the previous year.

Among A18-49, Nightly News averaged 1.5 million viewers for the week, topping ABC by +235,000 (+19%) and CBS by +430,000 (+40%). Nightly News saw massive growth in A18-49 from the prior year, up +16% (+202,000), more than any other network. The NBC News broadcast has ranked #1 in A25-54 and A18-49 for 63 of the last 64 weeks.

Nightly News averaged 8 million total viewers for the week, leading CBS EVENING NEWS by +1.5 million (+23%). Year over year, Nightly News was up in every demo, growing +3% in total viewers, +9% in A25-54 and +16% in A18-49.

Weekly Highlights:

  • Nightly News averaged 2 million A25-54 viewers, outperforming ABC by +256,000 (+15%) and CBS by +476,000 (+31%).
  • Nightly News posted the biggest year-over-year growth in A25-54 (+161,000, or +9%), compared to ABC's +27,000 and CBS's +112,000.
  • Nightly News more than doubled its margin of win vs. ABC (+256,000 win vs. last year's +121,000).
  • Nightly News has ranked #1 in A25-54 and A18-49 for 63 of the past 64 weeks.
  • Nightly News averaged 1.5 million A18-49 viewers, topping ABC by +235,000 (+19%) and CBS by +430,000 (+40%).
