"NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt" is the #1 most-watched broadcast in the key demo for the month of July, winning 36 of the last 37 months, according to Nielsen Media Research data.
The broadcast averaged 1.6 million A25-54 viewers this past month, beating "ABC World News Tonight" by +14,000 viewers (+1%) and "CBS Evening News" by +47,000 viewers (+44%).
Last month, Holt interviewed FBI Director Wray at the Aspen Security Forum and made headlines when the director implied he had considered resigning, saying: "I'm a low-key, understated guy, but that should not be mistaken for what my spine is made out of. I'll just leave it at that." Watch here. Days before, Holt led NBC News' coverage of President Trump's first trip to the United Kingdom from London, and the president's summit with President Putin from Helsinki.
Last week, Holt spoke to Philadelphia Eagle Malcolm Jenkins about the unresolved debate over athletes protesting social issues during the national anthem. July began with Holt's trip to ESSENCE Festival in New Orleans, where he discussed criminal justice reform with rappers Meek Mill and Remy Ma.
In July, "Nightly News" averaged 1.1 million A18-49 viewers, topping ABC by +4,000 viewers (+0.4%) and CBS by +315,000 viewers (+42%). The broadcast has won the A18-49 demo for 37 of the past 39 months.
7.3 million viewers tuned in to "Nightly News" for the month of July 2018, +1.8 million total viewers (+32%) more than "CBS Evening News.
"Nightly News" continues as the #1 most-watched evening newscast season-to-date in the key demo, delivering its largest demo lead over CBS in seven seasons.
