NBC NIGHTLY NEWS WITH LESTER HOLT ranked #1 across the board for the second quarter of 2016, averaging 8.01 million total viewers, +85,000 (+1%) higher than "ABC World News Tonight" and +1.343 million (+20%) more than "CBS Evening News." Nightly News posted the biggest total viewer growth among the evening newscasts (+221,000, or +3%) versus the same quarter last year and it has won total viewers for 34 of the last 35 quarters.

The NBC News broadcast continues its dominance in the demo, winning the week, the 12th consecutive month and 4th consecutive quarter among A25-54. For the quarter, Nightly News averaged 1.9 million A25-54 viewers, leading ABC by +173,000 (+10%) and CBS by +382,000 (+25%), marking Nightly News's biggest 2Q demo win over ABC in three years. For the week of June 20, Nightly News averaged 1.845 million A25-54 viewers, outperforming ABC by +201,000 (+12%) and CBS by +399,000 (+28%).

Among A18-49, Nightly News won the week, the 14th consecutive month and 4th consecutive quarter. For the quarter, Nightly News averaged 1.350 million A18-49 viewers, topping ABC by +116,000 (+9%) and CBS by +324,000 (+32%). For the week of June 20, the NBC News broadcast averaged 1.295 million A18-49 viewers, topping ABC by +87,000 (+7%) and CBS by +292,000 (+29%).

For the week of June 20, the NBC News broadcast won all five evenings among A25-54 viewers and three evenings among total viewers (Monday - Wednesday). On Monday evening, Nightly News drew the biggest total viewer audience of any evening newscast last week (8.321 million).

Season to date, Nightly News is the #1 evening news program in total viewers, A25-54 and A18-49 viewers. Nightly News has ranked #1 in A25-54 and A18-49 for 47 of the past 48 weeks.
