NBC NIGHTLY NEWS WITH LESTER HOLT Wins Across the Board for July Sweep

NBC NIGHTLY NEWS WITH LESTER HOLT" ranked #1 across the board for the week of July 25, averaging 7.2 million total viewers, outperforming "ABC World News Tonight" by +31,000 and "CBS Evening News" by +1.15 million. The NBC broadcast also won the July sweep period across the board, delivering its 36th consecutive sweep in total viewers. For July sweep, Nightly News averaged 7.614 million total viewers, +103,000 (+1%) ahead of ABC WORLD NEWS Tonight and +1.275 million (+20%) more than CBS Evening News.

In the demo, Nightly News averaged 1.886 million A25-54 viewers for July sweep, leading ABC by +240,000 (+15%) and CBS by +396,000 (+27%). For the week of July 25, Nightly News averaged 1.748 million A25-54 viewers, leading ABC by +169,000 (+11%) and CBS by +382,000 (+28%). The NBC broadcast averaged 1.232 million A18-49 viewers for the week, topping ABC by +97,000 (+9%) and CBS by +318,000 (+35%). Nightly News has ranked #1 in A25-54 and A18-49 for 52 of the past 53 weeks.

The week included Lester Holt anchoring from the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on Monday through Thursday. NBC News's coverage of the 2016 political conventions topped every broadcast network, across all demos. NBC averaged 4.6 million viewers during its eight nights of primetime coverage (July 18 - 21, July 25 - 28), +31% more than ABC (+1.1 million) and +47% over CBS (+1.5 million). In the news demo, NBC averaged 1.7 million A54-54 viewers, leading ABC by +492,000 (+41%) and CBS by +711,000 (+72%).

Season to date, Nightly News is the #1 evening news program in total viewers, A25-54 and A18-49 viewers. Nightly News has added +5,000 viewers versus last season, while ABC WORLD NEWS Tonight is delivering its lowest demo viewership ever.
