NBC NIGHTLY NEWS WITH LESTER HOLT ranked #1 in the demo for the 16th consecutive month in October 2016, averaging 2 million A25-54 viewers, outperforming ABC by +257,000 (+15%) and CBS by +500,000 (+33%). It was Nightly News's best October demo average in three years, up +3% from October 2015. Nightly News won its 18th consecutive month in the A18-49 demo, averaging 1.492 million viewers, +214,000 (+17%) ahead of ABC and +431,000 (+41%) more than CBS.
For the week of October 24, Nightly News averaged 2 million A25-54 viewers, leading "ABC World News Tonight" by +165,000 (9%) and "CBS Evening News" by 367,000 (+23%). The
NBC News broadcast more than tripled its demo lead over
ABC versus the same week last season (+165,000 vs. +50,000 in 2015).
Among A18-49, Nightly News averaged 1.43 million viewers for the week, topping
ABC by +160,000 (+13%) and
CBS by + 309,000 (+28%). The
NBC News broadcast has ranked #1 in A25-54 and A18-49 for 65 of the last 66 weeks. Nightly News added +22,000 A18-49 viewers compared to the same week last season, increasing its advantages over both
ABC (+31%) and
CBS (+55%) over that same time period.
Nightly News averaged 8.15 million total viewers for the week, leading
CBS EVENING NEWS by +1.36 million (+20%). It was Nightly News's best total viewer delivery in three weeks.
