NBC NIGHTLY NEWS WITH LESTER HOLT was #1 in total viewers and all categories for the week of October 5-9, posting its 11th straight across-the-board win and 15th in the 16 weeks since Holt was named anchor.
On Monday, as Lester Holt anchored from the scene of deadly floods in Columbia, South Carolina, Nightly out-delivered
ABC by 731,000 total viewers and 375,000 viewers A25-54.
Nightly doubled its total viewer advantage over
ABC week to week and drew over 8 million viewers for the 8th week in a row. Nightly's 11 consecutive wins among viewers A25-54 marks the broadcast's best demo streak since April 2014.
Three weeks into the 2015-16 season, Nightly is up across the board versus the same period last year, posting growth in total viewers (+1%, or +45,000), A25-54 viewers (+5%, or +94,000), and A18-49 viewers (+2%, or +34,000). The
NBC broadcast's current +99,000 A25-54 lead over
ABC is a 212% turnaround from its -88,000 deficit during the first three weeks of the 2014-15 season. Season-to-date,
ABC is currently down by -5% in A25-54 and -1% in A18-49 year-to-year.
Nightly has now won among total viewers for 21 of the last 24 weeks and 309 of the last 316 weeks.
Weekly Highlights:
Nightly averaged 8.278 million total viewers, outperforming
ABC by +319,000 (+4%) and
CBS by +1.572 million (+23%).
Nightly averaged 2.009 million A25-54 viewers, +121,000 (+6%) ahead of
ABC and +443,000 (+28%) more than CBS.
Compared to the same week last season, Nightly posted a 294% turnaround in the demo gap.
Nightly delivered a 1.7 A25-54 rating, +1 tenth ahead of
ABC and +4 tenths more than CBS.
Nightly averaged 1.436 million A18-49 viewers, topping
ABC by +146,000 (+11%) and
CBS by +401,000 (+39%).
Nightly delivered a 1.1 A18-49 rating, +1 tenth more than
ABC and +3 tenths more than CBS.
