"NBC Nightly News" was America's most-watched newscast for the week ending July 18, 2014, according to Nielsen Media Research data. The NBC broadcast averaged 7.767 million total viewers, hitting a three-week high and marking its second straight week of growth. Nightly also increased its total audience and posted gains in key younger demo ratings compared to the same week last season.
Season-to-date, Nightly is posting its biggest total viewer audience (9.005 million) since the 2005-06 season and its largest lead over
ABC (+1.004 million) since the 2010-11 season. Nightly continues to post the largest season-to-season growth among the national evening newscasts, gaining +501,000 total viewers (+6%) and widening its advantage over
ABC by +28%.

ABC by +3% (+35,000) and
CBS by +30% (+304,000).
Versus the same week last season, Nightly increased its total audience by +1% (+98,000) while also posting gains in rating M18-49 (+25%) and M25-54 (+8%).
