NBC NIGHTLY NEWS Gets 9 Million Viewers for Last 5 Weeks

More than 9.4 million Americans tuned in to "NBC Nightly News With BrIan Williams" for the week ending December 12, 2010, according to Nielsen Media Research data. "Nightly" continues its reign as the number one evening newscast, seeing +1.013 million more than ABC "World News,'" 8.403 million and +3.420 million more than CBS "Evening News'" 5.996 million.  "Nightly" has delivered at least 9 million total viewers for five consecutive weeks- winning for 65 consecutive weeks, and in 112 of the past 113 weeks in total viewers. Season-to-date, "Nightly" leads "World News" by +1,118,000 total viewers.  This is the sixth consecutive week that the NBC News program has topped ABC "World News" by over 1 million viewers.

For the week, "Nightly" also led in the key demo adults 25-54. "Nightly" delivered a 2.2 rating A25-54, ahead of "World News'" 1.9 and "Evening News'" 1.5. With 2.739 million A25-54 (000) viewers last week, "Nightly" beat "World News" by +421,000 viewers. This is the 107th consecutive week "Nightly" has topped "World News" in A25-54 (000). Season-to-date, "Nightly" leads "World News" by +413,000 A25-54 viewers.

As the number one network broadcast last week, "Nightly" delivered a 6.1/12 Household rating, with "World News" in second place with a 5.6/11, and "Evening News" in third with a 4.0/8. Versus the fourth quarter 2010-to-date average, "Nightly" increased in homes (+9%) and total viewers (+11% or +906,000).

On its digital platforms, "NBC Nightly News with BrIan Williams" continued its strong performance with more than 4.1 million online streams for the week ending December 11, 2010.
