NBC Finishes No. 2 for the Week in Adults 25-54 & Total Viewers

With two editions of "The Voice" plus "Chicago Med" and "Little Big Shots" all ranking in the top 10 among primetime telecasts on the Big 4 networks, NBC has tied for #2 for the week of March 28-April 3 in adults 18-49 and ranked #2 outright in total viewers and adults 25-54.

According to "live plus same day" figures from Nielsen Media Research, the Monday and Tuesday editions of "The Voice" ranked #3 and #4 respectively among primetime programs on ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX for the week in the key 18-49 demographic, with Tuesday's "Chicago Med" and Sunday's "Little Big Shots" tying for #9. Joining them in the week's top 25 were Tuesday's "Chicago Fire" (tied for #12), Monday's "Blindspot" (tied for #17), Wednesday's "Chicago P.D." (#20) and Wednesday's "Law & Order: SVU" (tied for #21).

Versus the same week last year, NBC grew +3% in total viewers (6.0 million vs. 5.8 million).

Season to date, NBC is running within 0.1 of a rating point of #1 behind Super Bowl-boosted CBS in adults 18-49.

NBC's total-viewer average of 8.433 million is the network's highest at this point in a season without a SUPER BOWL or Olympic boost since 2006-07 (9.337 million).

Primetime averages for the week of March 28-April 3 in adults 18-49 are: CBS, 1.4 rating, 5 share; NBC, 1.2/4; Fox, 1.2/4; ABC, 1.0/4; and CW, 0.6/2. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 7.9 million; NBC, 6.0 million; ABC, 4.8 million; Fox, 4.0 million; and CW, 1.5 million.

"Most current" averages for the season to date are: CBS, 2.4/8; NBC, 2.3/8; Fox, 2.0/7; ABC, 1.9/6; and CW, 0.8/3. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 11.3 million; NBC, 8.4 million; ABC, 6.8 million; Fox, 6.1 million; and CW, 1.9 million.

NBC highlights for the week of March 28-April 3:

Monday

NBC won Monday night among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key measures (including a tie in men 18-34), taking six of six half-hours among those nets in adults 18-49.

"The Voice" (2.8/9 in 18-49, 11.4 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 program of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and most other key demographics, winning its time period by a +65% margin among the Big 4 nets in 18-49 (2.8 vs. 1.7 each for CBS's dramas and ABC's "Dancing With the Stars"). Versus the prior week, "Voice" maintained 100% in 18-49 (2.8 vs. 2.8) and grew in total viewers (11.4 million vs. 11.2 million).

"Live Plus Three Day" Ratings: "Voice" grew by +19% going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" ratings in adults 18-49 (from a 2.81 rating to a 3.33) and by more than 1.5 million viewers overall (11.4 million to 12.9 million).

"Live Plus Seven Day" Ratings: So far this season, Monday's "Voice" has grown by +25% going from L+SD to L+7 in 18-49 rating (from a 3.14 to a 3.91) and 2.3 million viewers overall (12.2 million to 14.5 million).

Upscale: Monday's "Voice" has delivered a solidly upscale audience, indexing at a 117 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current," including L+3).

"Blindspot" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 6.0 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) ranked #1 in the slot among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and all other key demographics (including a tie in men 25-54), winning the hour by a +33% margin among those nets in adults 18-49 (1.6 vs. 1.2 for CBS's #2 "NCIS: LA"). "Blindspot" grew week to week by +7% in 18-49 (1.6 vs. 1.5) and +2% in total viewers (6.0 million vs. 5.9 million). L+3: "Blindspot" grew by +63% going from L+SD to L+3 ratings in 18-49 (1.58 to 2.57) and by 3.3 million viewers overall (6.0 million to 9.3 million). "Blindspot" delivered Monday's biggest L+3 lifts in 18-49 (+63% and +0.99 points) and total viewers (+3.274 million). L+7: "Blindspot" has increased by +79% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 2.19 to a 3.92) and 5.3 million viewers overall (7.9 million to 13.2 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "Blindspot" is generating a strong upscale audience, indexing at a 125 among adults 18-49 living in home with $100K+ incomes ("most current," including L+3).

Tuesday

NBC won Tuesday night among the Big 4 in every key measure, led by the #1, 2 and 3 shows of the night in 18-49, "The Voice," "Chicago Med" and "Chicago Fire."

"The Voice" (2.4/9 in 18-49, 11.1 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, total viewers and every other key measure. Week to week, "Voice" retained 96% in 18-49 (2.4 vs. 2.5) and grew +3% in total viewers (11.1 million vs. 10.8 million). L+3: "Voice" increased by +21% in 18-49 (2.39 to 2.90) and 1.5 million viewers (11.1 million to 12.6 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: Tuesday's "Voice" has increased by +24% in 18-49 rating (from a 2.93 to a 3.64) and 2.1 million viewers overall (12.0 million to 14.1 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: Tuesday's "Voice" has delivered a solidly upscale audience, indexing at a 117 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current," including L+3).

"Chicago Med" (1.8/6 in 18-49, 8.7 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) grew +20% versus its prior episode in 18-49 (1.8 vs. 1.5 on Feb. 23) and increased +31% in total viewers (8.679 million vs. 6.642 million), to rank as the #2 show of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49, behind only "The Voice." "Med" won the slot among the Big 4 in every key demographic and delivered the show's highest regular-slot figures since Dec. 8 (2.1 in 18-49, 9.6 million viewers overall). L+3: "Med" increased by +33% in 18-49 (1.80 to 2.40) and 2.2 million viewers (8.7 million to 10.9 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "Chicago Med" has increased by +47% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.76 to a 2.58) and 2.8 million viewers overall (7.9 million to 10.7 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Chicago Fire" (1.7/6 in 18-49, 8.7 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) was the #3 show of the night on the Big 4 in 18-49, behind only "The Voice" and "Chicago Med." "Fire" ranked #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in every key measure, with growth of +6% vs. its prior original telecast in 18-49 (1.7 vs. 1.6 on Feb. 23) and +11% in total viewers (8.7 million vs. 7.8 million). Among those nets, "Fire" won the hour by an +89% margin in adults 18-49 (1.7 vs. 0.9 for CBS's #2 "Late Late Show" primetime special). "Fire" delivered its most-watched episode since Dec. 8 (9.1 million). L+3: "Fire" increased by +48% in 18-49 (1.73 to 2.56) and more than 2.8 million viewers (8.7 million to 11.5 million) going from L+SD to L+3. "Fire's" lifts of 0.83 of a point in 18-49 and 2.858 million viewers overall were the biggest L+3 increases of the night on the Big 4. L+7: "Chicago Fire" has grown by +61% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.81 to a 2.92) and 3.6 million viewers overall (8.0 million to 11.6 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Wednesday

"Heartbeat" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.8 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) retained 100% of the previous week's regular-slot premiere in 18-49 (0.9 vs. 0.9) and held 92% in total viewers (4.8 million vs. 5.2 million) and maintained 100% of NBC's 18-49 rating in the hour on the year-ago Wednesday (0.9 vs. 0.9 with "Mysteries of Laura" on April 1, 2015). L+3: "Heartbeat" increased by +21% in 18-49 (0.90 to 1.09) and 811,000 viewers overall (4.8 million to 5.6 million) going from L+SD to L+3. Upscale: "Heartbeat" delivers a solid upscale audience, indexing at a 109 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.4/5 in 18-49, 6.1 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) retained 93% week to week in adult 18-49 rating (1.4 vs. 1.5) and 99% in total viewers (6.067 million vs. 6.111 million), despite this week's return of Fox's "Empire" to the time period. L+3: "SVU" grew by +64% in 18-49 (1.43 to 2.34) and 2.4 million viewers (6.1 million to 8.5 million) going from L+SD to L+3, giving "SVU" week-to-week growth in both measusres in L+3. The +64% lift in 18-49 was the strongest of the night on the Big 4. L+7: "Law & Order: SVU" has grown by +70% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.68 to a 2.85) and 3.0 million viewers overall (7.2 million to 10.2 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Chicago P.D." (1.5/5 in 18-49, 6.8 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) won the hour in adults 18-49 and ranked #1 or tied for #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in every other key demo. "P.D." grew week to week by +7% in 18-49 (1.5 vs. 1.4) and +8% in total viewers (6.8 million vs. 6.3 million in official nationals). "P.D." has now finished #1 or tied for #1 in 18-49 versus the time period's regular ABC and CBS drama competition with 33 of its last 34 regular-slot originals. L+3: "P.D." increased by +55 in 18-49 (1.50 to 2.33) and 2.9 million viewers (6.8 million to 9.7 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "P.D." has grown by +69% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.60 to a 2.70) and 3.5 million viewers overall (7.0 million to 10.5 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Thursday

"You, Me and the Apocalypse" (0.6/2 in 18-49, 2.8 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) equaled its top 18-49 rating since Feb. 11 (0.8) and hit a seven-week high in total viewers (best since Feb. 11, 3.0 million).L+3: "Apocalypse" increased by +19% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (0.57 to 0.68) and by 380,000 persons in total viewers (2.8 million to 3.2 million). L+7: "Apocalypse" has increased by +31% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 0.72 to a 0.94) and 705,000 viewers overall (3.0 million to 3.7 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "Apocalypse" is capturing a strong upscale audience, indexing at a 115 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current" including L+3).

An encore telecast of "The Blacklist" averaged a 0.5/2 in 18-49 and 2.9 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET).

The season finale of "Shades of Blue" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) tied for #1 in the time period in adults 18-49 and won the slot in adults 25-54 and total viewers. "Shades" built on its lead-in by +120% in 18-49 (1.1 vs. 0.5) and by +87% in total viewers (5.4 million vs. 2.9 million). "Shades" grew +10% week to week in 18-49 (1.1 vs. 1.0) to a six-week high (best since Feb. 18, 1.1) and equaled a nine-week high (matching its best since Jan. 28, 1.3). In total viewers, "Shades" increased by +6% week to week (5.4 million vs. 5.1 million) to an eight-week high (best since Feb. 4, 5.6 million). Despite the 10 p.m. hour, "Shades" grew from half-hour to half-hour in adults 18-49, total viewers and most other key measure to rank #1 outright in the 10:30-11 p.m. half-hour in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and adults 18-34, as well as total viewers. L+3: "Shades" grew by +72% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.07 to 1.84) and by 3.1 million persons in total viewers (5.4 million to 8.5 million). The +72% increase in 18-49 was the biggest of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox. L+7: "Shades of Blue" has grown by +93% in adult 18-49 rating going from L+SD to L+7 (1.20 to 2.32) and more than 4.1 million persons in total viewers (5.9 million vs. 10.0 million). The prior week's "Shades" added nearly 800,000 full-episode views (P2+) in six days on NBC.com and Hulu (791,020).

Friday

An encore telecast of "Caught on Camera With Nick Cannon" (0.7/3 in 18-49, 3.4 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew +17% or 0.1 of a point versus its prior encore in 18-49 (0.7 vs. 0.6 on March 4) and +14% in total viewers (3.4 million vs. 3.0 million), while retaining 100% of the prior week's 18-49 rating with a first-run episode (0.7 vs. 0.7). Despite this week' encore, "Caught" equaled the show's six-week high in 18-49 (matching its best since Feb. 19, 0.8).

"Grimm" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) retained 100% week to week in 18-49, maintaining a 0.9 rating or higher in adults 18-49 for an eighth consecutive telecast despite this week's encore lead-in. L+3: The previous telecast of "Grimm" grew by +71% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (0.92 to 1.57) and 1.9 million persons in total viewers (4.3 million to 6.2 million), for the biggest 18-49 and total-viewer lifts of the night on the Big 4. L+7: "Grimm" has increased by +90% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 0.91 to a 1.73) and more than 2.4 million viewers overall (3.9 million to 6.4 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "Grimm" is capturing a strong upscale audience this season, indexing at a 111 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current" including L+3).

"Dateline NBC" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) grew from its first half-hour to its second in nearly all key measures, including gains of +13% in adults 18-49 (0.8 to 0.9), +8% in adults 25-54 (1.2 to 1.3), +25% in men 25-54 (0.8 to 1.0), +13% in women 25-54 (1.5 to 1.7) and +11% in total viewers (3.9 million to 4.3 million), despite the 10 p.m. hour. L+3: The prior week's "Dateline" increased by +20% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (0.95 to 1.14) and 709,000 persons in total viewers (5.0 million to 5.7 million). Saturday

"Dateline Saturday Night Mystery" (0.6/2 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) won the 8-9 p.m. time period among the Big 4 networks in every key measure. "Dateline" grew in nearly all key categories from half-hour to half-hour, including gains of +40% in adults 18-49 (0.5 to 0.7) and +75% in men 18-49 (0.4 to 0.7).

NBC Sports' coverage of the "World FIGURE SKATING Championships" (0.4/1 in 18-49, 2.7 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) increased by +33% or 0.1 of a point versus the year-ago coverage in adults 18-49 (0.4 vs. 0.3 on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 8-10 p.m.) and up +20% in total viewers (2.7 million vs. 2.2 million).

Sunday

An encore telecast of "Little Big Shots" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall from 7-8 p.m. ET) grew versus the prior week's rebroadcast by +14% in 18-49 (0.8 vs. 0.7) and +34% in total viewers (5.4 million vs. 4.0 million).

"Little Big Shots" (1.8/6 in 18-49, 11.3 million viewers overall from 8-9:01 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 primetime show of the night on the Big 4, ahead of CBS's "ACM Awards," in total viewers, while ranking as the top broadcast series in adults 18-49. "Little Big Shots" built by +125% on its lead-in from an encore "LBS" in 18-49 (1.8 vs. 0.8) and +109% in total viewers (11.3 million vs. 5.4 million). This week's "LBS" retained 95% of the prior week's rating in 18-49 (1.8 vs. 1.9) and grew +7% in total viewers (11.3 million vs. 10.6 million). L+3: The prior week's "LBS" increased by +19% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.90 to 2.27) and more than 1.4 million persons in total viewers (10.6 million to 12.0 million). L+7: "LBS" has increased by +19% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 2.70 to a 3.20) and more than 1.9 million viewers overall (14.1 million to 16.1 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"The Carmichael Show" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall from 9:01-9:30 p.m. ET) retained 100% week to week in 18-49 (1.0 vs.1.0) and increased by +6% in total viewers (4.7 million vs. 4.4 million), to rank #2 in the half-hour among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and total viewers behind only CBS's "ACM Awards." L+3: The previous week's "Carmichael" grew by +17% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (0.99 to 1.16) and 473,000 persons in total viewers (4.4 million to 4.9 million). L+7: "Carmichael" has grown by +14% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 1.35 to a 1.54) and 524,000 viewers overall (5.8 million to 6.3 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Crowded" (0.8/2 in 18-49, 3.5 million viewers overall from 9:30-10 p.m. ET) retained 100% week to week in 18-49 (0.8 vs. 0.8) and 99% in total viewers (3.474 million vs. 3.523 million). "Crowded" retained 80% of its lead-in from "The Carmichael Show" - equaling its best retention to date -- and ranked #2 among the Big 4 in the time period in adults 25-54 and total viewers, behind only CBS's "ACM Awards." L+3: The prior week's "Crowded" increased by +25% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (0.83 to 1.04) and 643,000 persons in total viewers (3.5 million to 4.2 million). "Crowded" improved its retention of "Carmichael" to 90% in L+3.

An encore "Dateline NBC" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) grew half-hour to half-hour in nearly all key measures, despite the 10 p.m. hour. "Dateline" ranked #2 in the hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in total viewers. L+7: Sunday's "Dateline NBC" has increased by +19% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 1.09 to a 1.30) and 720,000 viewers overall (5.4 million to 6.2 million) going from L+SD to L+7.
