NBC DEPORTES presents Week 9 of the Liga MX Torneo Apertura 2015 with León vs. Tijuana, tonight, September 19 at 9PM/8C/6P, airing simultaneously on Telemundo and NBC UNIVERSO. Both the television and online broadcasts will feature the narration of the acclaimed Andrés Cantor, assisted by the experienced Sammy Sadovnik and three-time top Mexican scorer Carlos Hermosillo.
Defeating Tijuana could put León in first place in the league standings, depending on the performance of its closest rival, Pumas, this week. Despite losing an away game in Chiapas last week, which broke a four-game winning streak, León has emerged as one of the league's dominant teams this season, boasting the second best offense - the best in home games - and two of the tournament's top ten scorers: Mauro Boselli, with seven goals (just one behind current leader Emanuel Villa), and Carlos Alberto Peña, with five.
Tijuana has been less reliable this season, despite such memorable moments as winning its away game against Cruz Azul in Week 5. Coach Rubén Omar Romano is fielding a formidable offensive lineup that includes Dayro Moreno, also with seven goals to his credit so far.
The two teams have faced each other nine times since Torneo Apertura 2012, including seven regular season games that resulted in four wins for León and three for Tijuana. León won their last encounter by a resounding 6-2; interestingly, the two teams have never tied.
