Fasten your seat belts and prepare for takeoff - NBC's TODAY show is leaving New York City for a weeklong American adventure. Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, Natalie Morales and Willie Geist will pack their bags and head to five different U.S. destinations in five days. TODAY's Great American Adventure begins Monday, May 20.
In the span of a week, the TODAY team will dip their toes into both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and beyond. The adventure begins in paradise on Monday, May 20 with the sun, sand and surf of Honolulu, Hawaii. The anchors will then trade in their swim trunks for hiking boots and travel to the country's first national park, Yellowstone, on Tuesday, May 21. The next stop is Chicago on Wednesday, May 22, where the team will explore everything America's Second City has to offer. The journey continues to Orlando, Florida on Thursday, May 23 where a wild ride is undoubtedly in store.
On Friday, May 24, the
Jersey Shore will be the final destination where TODAY will unofficially kick off the summer. New Jersey Gov.
Chris Christie will sit down for an interview and discuss the state's ongoing Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts. The Governor will also serve as a special TODAY guest co-host during the 8 a.m. hour, and the band fun. will perform a concert live on the shore.
