SUMMER DREAMS, a new two-hour special that follows the players, personalities and behind-the-scenes drama at the National Basketball Association's (NBA) official Summer League, will be broadcast Saturday, March 15 (8:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
SUMMER DREAMS follows two of the NBA's top draft picks and unsigned players rising from obscurity, as well as an aspiring coach and a female referee, as they try to find their way to the NBA. The grueling 10-day, 61-game NBA Summer League takes place in the ultimate fantasy land - Las Vegas, where dreams either come true or are crushed.
"The NBA Summer League is an incredibly colorful event in which team owners, general managers, coaches, lottery picks and longshots all convene in Las Vegas to pursue their hoop dreams," said Executive Producer Mike Tollin. "With unprecedented access, we'll witness hopes dashed and dreams coming true right in front of our eyes."
SUMMER DREAMS tracks the unique journeys of 2013 NBA Draft first-round picks Michael Carter-Williams of the Philadelphia 76ers and Shane Larkin of the Dallas Mavericks, son of Baseball Hall of Famer Barry Larkin.
Also, the special will spotlight other Summer League personalities, including Lauren Holtkamp, a woman trying to become the second current female referee in the NBA; a young, recently unemployed NBA Development League coach trying to get noticed by league GMs; team executives; and parents, siblings and girlfriends of the players.
SUMMER DREAMS is produced by Raquel Productions in association with Mandalay Sports Media. Mike Tollin ("Coach Carter," Arli$$," "Smallville," "30 For 30," "The Franchise," "Hank Aaron: Chasing the Dream") is the executive producer.
