UPDATE: Variety reports that "four to five different platforms are interested in scooping up "Nashville" for additional seasons", according to Lionsgate executives who spoke to reporters this morning on an earnings call. They shared that the venues in question have been "inbound inquires coming directly to us, asking about the possibility of moving the show."

During the call, Lionsgate's head of TV, Kevin Beggs commented, "The fans and everyone else is clamoring for many more seasons."

Last night, ABC aired the series four finale episode of its country music-themed drama NASHVILLE. The episode, titled 'Maybe You'll Appreciate Me Someday,' featured Hayden Panettiere's Juliette boarding a plane which ends up going missing. The cliffhanger leaves the door open for a possible fifth season.

According to TVLine, a happier alternative ending had been filmed in order to give the show more closure, featuring a safe plane landing and Juliette's eventual reunion with Avery. However production company Lionsgate wanted to end the season with a twist in order to increase the chances that the show will be picked up by another network following its cancellation by ABC.

NASHVILLE fans have recently taken to social media using the #BringBackNashville to demonstrate their support for the series.

"Nashville" stars Connie Britton as Rayna Jaymes, Hayden Panettiere as Juliette Barnes, Clare Bowen as Scarlett O'Connor, Chris Carmack as Will Lexington, Will Chase as Luke Wheeler, Charles Esten as Deacon Claybourne, Jonathan Jackson as Avery Barkley, Sam Palladio as Gunnar Scott, Maisy Stella as Daphne Conrad, Lennon Stella as Maddie Conrad and Aubrey Peeples as Layla Grant.
