NASCAR on NBC analyst and Daytona 500 winning crew chief Steve Letarte will call both the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Coke Zero Sugar 400 (Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on NBC), and Friday's Xfinity Series race (7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN) from a position atop NBC Sports Group's "Peacock Pit Box" at Daytona International Speedway. Officially unveiledearlier this season, NBC Sports' "Peacock Pit Box" is a new state of the art remote studio set situated along pit road and is designed to bring viewers closer to the action during NBC and NBCSN's coverage of the 2018 NASCAR season.
Lead NASCAR on NBC race announcer Rick Allen, "The Mayor" of NASCARJeff Burton, and NBC Sports' newest on-air contributor Dale Earnhardt Jr. will call both races from NBC's traditional broadcast booth above the start-finish line.
Similar to NBC Sports' "Inside The Glass" coverage during NHL telecasts, Letarte will offer real-time "On The Box" commentary throughout NBC and NBCSN's race broadcasts, adding expert insight and analysis from his 10-year crew chief career. Saturday's "On The Box" coverage will be the first time NBC Sports has called Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series action directly from pit road.
