CMT has appointed Morgan Selzer as the network's newest Vice President of Programming Development, effective immediately, it was announced today by Joe Livecchi, SVP, Development. In her new role as VP, Selzer will oversee the development of a broad range of programming for the network. Selzer is based at Viacom Media Networks' headquarters in Santa Monica and reports directly to Livecchi.
"Morgan is everything you want in a development executive," said Livecchi. "She's producer friendly, doesn't BS and is driven to win. She's already adding energy and excitement to the team."
Selzer comes to
CMT from Style Network where she spent almost two years developing new content, generating original formats, finding talent and working closely with production companies to acquire and mold original programming for the network. During her time at Style, Selzer also oversaw development and production on Style's first live and completely interactive weekly talk show "Style Pop" and developed numerous shows including the reboot of "Lifestyles of The Rich and Famous," "Hollywood House Calls," "Botched" and "Glam Squad."
Previous to that, Selzer had a two-year stint as the Director of Development for Eyeworks
USA where she generated, developed and formatted ideas for potential projects across all networks and genres including "LA Hair" for WE tv, "The Revolution" for
ABC daytime, TEXAS WOMEN for
CMT and a variety of projects for TLC, MTV, GSN, VH1, Syfy,
ABC and NBC. Selzer got her start at
MTV in 2004, where she managed the development and production of
Primetime and daytime series, including "Bully Beatdown," "From Gs to Gents," "America's Best Dance Crew" and "Is She Really Going Out With Him."
Selzer joins
CMT at a pivotal time for the network as it expands into more hours of original programming. Last month,
CMT announced production on seven unscripted series for 2014 - the most the network has ever had in production at one time. The new series scheduled for production and premiere this year include

Tattoo Titans from Original Media; STEVE AUSTIN'S BROKEN SKULL RANCH from Cris Abrego Productions; DEATH VALLEY from Glassman Media; FNA
USA from Juma Entertainment; TOBACCO WARS from Leftfield Pictures; and MY DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY from Shed Media. The 2014 programming slate also includes a new Thursday night for
CMT featuring
Party Down South from 495 Productions, which debuted January 16 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
