The Milwaukee LGBT Film/Video Festival is pleased to announce the two films that will bookend this year's Festival. Spanning 11 consecutive days, the Festival opens on October 16 with a screening of Patrik-Ian Polk's BLACKBIRD and a special opening night reception at Beans & Barley immediately following. 52 TUESDAYS from Australian director Sophie Hyde closes the Festival on October 26, 2014.
The Festival kicks off at Milwaukee's Oriental Theatre with the screening of Blackbird beginning at 7:30 p.m. This engaging and powerful drama stars Mo'Nique as the mother in a young boy's coming out story. The film is an adaptation of Larry Duplechan's novel of the same name - hailed by many as the first post-Stonewall African American coming out novel.
