Mike Tirico will host NBC Sports' coverage of the 2019 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic® from Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Ind. - set for January 1 at 1 p.m. ET on NBC -- and the 2019 Honda NHL ALL-STAR GAME from SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., scheduled for primetime on Saturday, January 26, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
Tirico is synonymous with NBC Sports' biggest events. He is the host for NBC's primetime Olympic program, FOOTBALL NIGHT IN AMERICA - the most-watched studio show in sports - Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup coverage, and serves as the play-by-play voice for Notre Dame Football. Tirico also hosted Games 1 and 4 of the 2018 Stanley Cup Final between the Vegas Golden Knights and Washington Capitals, and interviewed Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin prior to Game 1.
"Mike joined our Stanley Cup Final coverage last June and loved being a part of the sport and atmosphere," said Sam Flood, Executive Producer and President of Production, NBC Sports. "What better place to return to the NHL than Notre Dame Stadium, where Mike was our play-by-play voice for the Fighting Irish during their undefeated run."
At both events, Tirico will join NBC Sports' NHL LIVE studio team of host Kathryn Tappen and analysts Mike Milbury, Keith Jones and Jeremy Roenick. Mike 'Doc' Emrick (play-by-play), Eddie Olczyk(analyst) and Pierre McGuire (Inside-the-Glass analyst) will call both games.
Tirico joined NBC Sports Group in 2016, and a year later was named NBC's primetime Olympic host, with his first assignment coming at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games. Tirico, who was named studio host for FOOTBALL NIGHT IN AMERICA in August 2018, is in his 23rd season in which he has served as either an NFL PRIMETIME studio host or play-by-play voice.
