Actress Michelle Pfeiffer will be recognized for her work in Hollywood at this year's CinemaCon, where she'll accept the 2012 Cinema Icon Award. The annual theater owners' convention is historically where studios reveal their summer movie lineup. Pfeiffer's award will be presented during the final night dinner.

"Michelle Pfeiffer is truly one of the film industry's great leading ladies," said Mitch Neuhauser, the managing director of CinemaCon. The actress' 2012 films include "Dark Shadows," in which she stars alongside Johnny Depp, and "People Like Us."

Pfeiffer played television station manager and not-so-merry widow Velma Von Tussle in the musical film adaptation of "Hairspray," having previously sung in the movie "The Fabulous Baker Boys" as well as in "Grease 2."

"Hairspray" director Adam Shankman has said it was Pfeiffer's work both in "Baker Boys" and "Batman Returns" that made him a fan of hers. This three time Academy Award nominated actress has also appeared in "Stardust," an adaptation of the Neil Gaiman fantasy novel and "Batman Returns".

CinemaCon takes place between April 23 and April 26 at Las Vegas' famed Caesars Palace.
