According to Deadline.com, actor Michael Fassbender will be joining the 'Your Film Festival'. YouTube is collaborating with Hollywood director Ridley Scott and the Venice Film Festival to launch the online worldwide film festival. The popular video web site is offering aspiring filmmakers to post their 15-minute short films on the site from the period of February 2nd to March 31st.

Once the deadline has passed, Scott and members of his Production Company will chose 50 semifinalists among the entries. The shorts will then be posted on YouTube where viewers will have the opportunity to narrow down the contending films to the final 10.

These final 10 films will then be screened at the Venice Film Festival in August where the winning entry will receive a cash prize of $500,000. Fassbender will help select the Grand Prize Winner and co-executive produce the winner's next film.

Explained YouTube manager of entertainment Nate Weinstein "The goal is to connect new voices with a global audience of unprecedented size."

Fassbender's is currently filming Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus'. The actor received the Best Actor award in Venice for his performance in Shame.
