Showtime's "Dexter" star Michael C. Hall will star in the new indie film "East Fifth Bliss." The picture will be directed by Michael Knowles.

According to trade paper Variety, Hall will play a 35-year-old whose static life comically unravels when he embarks on an awkward relationship with the 18-year-old daughter of a former high school classmate.

"East Fifth Bliss" features a script adapted by Michael Knowles and Douglas Light, from Light's novel of the same name, which received the 2007 Benjamin Franklin Award for Fiction.

The film will be produced by John Ramos and Knowles (for 7A Prods.), John Will (for Torn Sky Entertainment) and Susan Leber. "East Fifth Bliss" will start filming in late October in New York.

Best known for his Emmy-nominated lead role in Showtime's "Dexter" as well as Six Feet Under, Michael C. Hall starred in the Roundabout revival of Cabaret, as well as appearing as Billy Flynn in Chicago on Broadway in 2002. Hall also appeared in the Off-Broadway play Mr. Marmalade. The actor will next been seen starring opposite Gerard Butler in Lionsgate/Lakeshore's new thriller, "Gamer."
