The Orpheum Theatre kicks off the 2014 Summer Movie Series on Friday, May 30th at 7:00 PM with a zombie double feature. To celebrate the 8th Annual Zombie Walk, Mid-South zombies will have the opportunity to enjoy the 1968 classic film NIGHT OF THE LIVIND DEAD followed by the 2009 blockbuster hit, ZOMBIELAND.

"The Orpheum is happy to spotlight this annual event," said Pat Halloran, President and CEO of The Orpheum Theatre. "Not only does the Zombie Walk bring folks together for a fun evening, but it also works to promote hunger awareness within our community and the importance of helping others through its yearly food drive."

The Zombie Walk will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. It will begin at Army/Navy Park (east of South Main/G.E. Patterson) and trudge north on South Main past The Orpheum before turning right onto Beale Street. There is no cost to participate, but all zombies are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation for The Mid-South Food Bank.

"Last year we collected 1,400 pounds of food for the needy," said Zombie Walk organizer Jeremy Williams. "This year we hope to get 2,000 pounds."

After the walk, zombies are invited to rest their "dead-tired" feet in the air-conditioned Orpheum Theatre while enjoying one or both of zombie flicks. Tickets for The Double feature are just $7 for adult and $5 for children. Those who make a donation to the Zombie Walk food drive will receive $1 off the price of admission.

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: As dead bodies inexplicably return to life and feast on human flesh, young Barbara joins a group of survivors in a farmhouse hoping to protect themselves from the hordes of advancing zombies. Starring Judith O'Dea, Duane Jones and Karl Hardman, this film is not rated.

ZOMBIELAND: Looking to survive in a world taken over by zombies, a dorky college student teams with an urban roughneck and two drifter sisters. But after making their way to an allegedly safe Los Angeles amusement park, the quartet learns that no place is safe. Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin, this film is rated R.
