Mehmet Oz, MD To Host Pink Soirée: A Masquerade 10/28

Physician, Daytime Emmy®-winning host of The Dr. Oz Show and bestselling author Mehmet Oz, MD will host Pink Soirée: A Masquerade to benefit the Greater New York City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 7:00 pm on board the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum Complex. The event honors longtime supporters Theresa Lana and Cancer Treatment Centers of America®.

Cara Buono, Emmy®-nominated star of the AMC hit series Mad Men, Miss USA Alyssa Campanella, Maurice DuBois, co-anchor of CBS 2 News at 5 pm and 11 pm and Komen Greater NYC board member and Timothy Mandala, star of the new series, The Ropes, will also headline the event.

"We are very excited to be honoring two of our longtime supporters at this memorable event and are honored that Dr. Mehmet Oz will be the master of ceremonies for our second Pink Soirée celebration. We are also delighted to have Cara Buono, Miss USA Alyssa Campanella, Maurice DuBois, and Timothy Mandala with us to pay tribute to Komen Greater NYC and two of our top supporters," said Dara Richardson-Heron, MD, Komen Greater NYC CEO. The Pink Soirée is a perfect way to honor their contributions and commitment to our vision of a world without breast cancer."

The private dinner honors Komen Greater NYC supporters Theresa Lana and the Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) for their individual and corporate support of the organization. Cara Buono will present the award to CTCA and Timothy Mandala will present to Lana. This year's event has a masquerade theme and all guests are invited to wear masks, which will be made available to them as they arrive. The evening will have a festive, Carnivale feel to it, and will include many surprises and a variety of entertainers on board the Intrepid.

"My diagnosis marked the beginning of a profound journey that has changed the way I view the world, others and myself," said Pink Ribbon Individual Award honoree Theresa Lana. "Being honored by an organization such as Komen Greater NYC, which I hold in such high regard, has been an encouraging life-changing experience. Komen represents dignity, strength, support and a sisterhood to thousands of women and men who struggle with a breast cancer diagnosis and its aftermath. To be chosen as an honoree representing survivorship and to be recognized for fundraising over $300,000 to date is an inspiration and a tribute to all of the women who have battled this disease. To be the first survivor honored in such a grand manner as the Pink Soiree has reaffirmed my belief that working together to fund and find a cure, we will truly eradicate breast cancer someday soon."
