Megan Ellison and Nina Jacobson have officially teamed up to produce a big-screen adaptation of Maria Semple's best-selling novel WHERE'D YOU GO, BERNADETTE. Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, the men behind 500 DAYS OF SUMMER, are set to write the screenplay.
WHERE'D YOU GO, BERNADETTE is officially described as:
"Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle--and people in general--has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands. A trip to the end of the earth is problematic."It is so rare to find a book that is as original as it is moving and whose storytelling is as innovative as its characters are rich.," Jacobson said in a statement. "I'm very grateful to be collaborating with Megan Ellison to bring Maria's extraordinary book to the screen. We are off to a great start with Neustadter and Weber, whose voices and creative agility make them a perfect match for Bernadette."
"I can't think of two more impressive women than Nina Jacobson and Megan Ellison," Semple said. "I'm bouncy with excitement that they and the whole Color Force and Annapurna teams will be ushering Bernadette onto the big screen."Jacobson is the the former head of Disney, and now is president of Color Force Productions. She is currently producing THE HUNGER GAMES FRANCHISE. Ellison has recently backed acclaimed directors Paul Thomas Anderson and Kathryn Bigelow.
