After battling breast cancer, and being forced to pull out of a new series on NBC, actress Maura Tierney is ready for a return to television, this time in a role she previously played on FX's 'Rescue Me,' according to TVGuide.com.
Tierney made news late last year when the former 'ER' star had to drop out of NBC's 'Parenthood' so that she could undergo breast cancer surgery. At the time, her spokesperson said, "She is deeply disappointed that she will not be able to rejoin such a highly respected, talented, fun and funny group of actors."
Now that Tierney's medical treatment is done, she has decided to pick up as 'Rescue Me' character Kelly McPhee, a love interest to Denis Leary's character Tommy Gavin.
"[Tierney] is doing very well and is happy to move forward with the next phase of her life," a rep told TVGuide.com.
Her spot on 'Rescue Me' will in air 2011, as the FX series is currently shooting its final two seasons -- the drama was recently cancelled -- back-to-back, and Tierney will not appear until the final season.
