With its intimate lyrics, shining pop melody and subtle country touches, "Love and Affection" will hit Adult Pop Radio at the end of June. "The song is a coming of age story for my generation," says the New York-raised artist who currently splits his time between New York and Los Angeles. "It's a story about dealing with adulthood yet yearning for college life, youth and less responsibility," Shot in Los Angeles, watch the video for "Love And Affection" here: http://www.mattwhitemusic.com.
Born in New Jersey, raised in New York City, MATT's first love was the piano, and after formal training in classical and opera he found his voice through mainstream influences. After college, MATT took up guitar and busked on the street corners of New York City and in Washington Square Park to make ends meet and eventually the New York music scene provided him a place for both piano and guitar at venues such as Joe's Pub and The Living Room.
A melodically sophisticated songwriter and arranger, equally gifted on the guitar as he is on the piano, MATT's fanbase and network grew through his local performances, he released the successful EP The Bleeker Street Stories in '06, selling over a 100,000 copies. MATT's major label debut full length, Best Days ('07, Geffen) garnered him a #4 spot on Billboard's New Artist chart and the recognition as one of Rolling Stone magazine's "10 Artists to Watch." He followed that up with the much lauded album It's The Good Crazy and penned successful songs for other artists including Jason Derulo and Cody Simpson.
MATT's career has already generated him a solid album sales history, tours under his belt with Sting, Sheryl Crow, BB King, Billy Joel and the Counting Crows, a handful of hit singles such as "Best Days" whose accompanying video was number #1 on VH1's Top 20 Countdown for 16 weeks and "Love" which was featured in a McDonalds McRib commercial (the biggest commercial of 2011), a publishing deal that continues to earn him TV, film and advertising licensing including a major campaign with the GAP and most importantly, his own dedicated fan base. MATT is taking his major and indie label experience, and combining them with his city boy smarts, dry sense of humor and the key ingredient that has been the constant through his career: a rough around The Edges, yet undeniable heart. His third album titled GREENWICH, is set for release in late 2013, will be for the people who may have heard him on a street corner, on their TV or Radio, at one of his live shows or for those whom are sure to be a part of the new chapter.
