Martin Lawrence to Star in CBS Comedy Pilot

As first reported on Deadline.com, the CBS network has give the go ahead for an upcoming comedy pilot starring comedian Martin Lawrence. Mike Lisbe and Nate Reger will pen the project from CBS TV Studios. Lisbe will also executive produce along with Lawrence's managers Michael Green and Sam Maydew.

The story will center on Lawrence's character, described as "a widowed father of two teenagers who, after losing his job in construction, decides to go to the police academy and become a cop at the age of 46."

Lawrence is a film director, film producer, screenwriter, and stand up comedian. His best known films include Bad Boys, Blue Streak, and Big Momma's House.The actor also starred in his own television series, Martin, which ran from 1992 to 1997.
