Mariah Carey Delays Release Date of New Album

Mariah Carey used Twitter to reveal some surprising news to her fans. The singer confirmed that she will be delaying the release of her upcoming album, 'The Art of Letting Go'. The LP was set to drop on July 23rd. Carey did not announce a new release date.

Late Monday she tweeted: "While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don't feel I would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23," and added, "I'd rather not exclude meaningful songs. I want to give you this album as it's meant to be heard. When I'm ready, you'll be the first 2 know!",

Carey is scheduled to perform at Sunday's 2013 BET Awards, where she will come face to face with her former "American Idol" rival Nicki Minaj. Other performers who will take the stage at the event include Justin Timberlake, Ciara, India.Arie, Chris Brown, Miguel, R. Kelly and Kendrick Lamar.
