THE WOLF OF WALL STREET breakout star Margot Robbie may soon be transitioning to comedy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Robbie is currently in talks to join Tina Fey in the upcoming film adaptation of Kim Barker's memoir THE TALIBAN SHUFFLE. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE's Lorne Michaels will produce alongside Fey. 30 ROCK writer Robert Carlock will pen the script.
The film "tells of Barker's arrival as a fish-out-of-water in Kabul, filing stories about militants, being a woman in wartime Iraq and Pakistan, dealing with boredom interspersed with dashes of violence and the promiscuous war correspondent culture."
Robbie would play a "gorgeous and hard-core on-air news anchor who befriends Baker (Fey) in Afghanistan. The character has been described as very competitive and willing to do anything, including put her and others in danger, to get a story to launch her reporting career."
Robbie will next be seen in 2015's FOCUS, opposite Will Smith.
Fey served executive producer, head writer and star of NBC's three-time (2007, 2008, 2009) Emmy Award-winning, one-of-a-kind comedy series "30 Rock," a workplace comedy where the workplace exists behind-the-scenes of a live variety show. Her performance as 'Liz Lemon' has earned Fey an Emmy, two Golden Globes, three SAG Awards and a People's Choice Award. In 2009, "30 Rock" was nominated for a record 22 Emmy Awards, the most ever of any comedy series on television in a single season. "30 Rock" premiered on October 4 and as it begins its final and seventh season.
