Marcia Gay Harden to Star in THE LIBRARIAN

Variety reports that Marcia Gay Harden will play the title role in Juan Feldman's indie drama film THE LIBRARIAN. The Oscar-winning actress will portray a "mild-mannered librarian trying to start a new life for herself while touring Costa Rica with a lothario and dime-store philosopher she hired to take her around."

Joel Silverman penned the film which will be produced by Classic Films with Mano a Mano Films. Shooting is expected to begin in Costa Rica in July.

The film will mark Feldman's feature-length film directorial debut. He commented that Costa Rica was "a magical place and one that really does have the natural power to help restore a person. The Common greeting there are the words 'pura vida' -- pure life."

Harden will soon be seen in CBS Films' Get A Job, If I Were You, Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You and The Wine of Summer. She has received two Oscar nominations, winning for her supporting role in Ed Harris' Pollock, followed by a second nomination for her performance in Clint Eastwood's Mystic River.

Harden debuted on Broadway in 1993 in the role of Harper Pitt in Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA. The role earned her critical acclaim and she received a Tony Award nomination (Best Featured Actress in a Play).

In 2009, Harden returned to Broadway in GOD OF CARNAGE and received a Tony Award for her work in the play. Harden's work in film has earned her a 2000 Academy Award (for Pollock) and a 2004 nomination (Mystic River).
