CBS has announced that Tony and Emmy Award winning actor Mandy Patinkin will guest star on the CBS medical drama, Three Rivers. Patinkin will play an aspiring organ donor. It is a subject that hits close to home for the actor, who in real life underwent a procedure for corneal implants donated by the families of a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, in order to correct a disease that distorts the shape of the cornea and severely impairs vision.
Patinkin won a Tony for his role as Che in Evita, and is slated to star in the much anticipated Compulsion at Yale Rep, directed by Oskar Eustis in January prior to a concert tour with fellow Broadway alum Patti LuPone. His additional Broadway credits include: Sunday in the Park With George, The Wild Party, Falsettos, Mamaloshen, and The Secret Garden.
