MTV today announced via its various social media channels that multiple VMA nominee and chart-toppers Bruno Mars and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are set to take the stage during the 2013 "MTV Video Music Awards" LIVE from Barclays Center in Brooklyn on August 25 at 9:00pm ET/PT.
Singer-Songwriter and Producer, Bruno Mars, is riding high off of the success of his sold-out "Moonshine Jungle Tour" and multi-platinum album, Unorthodox Jukebox, which have generated the worldwide hit singles, "Locked Out of Heaven" and "When I Was Your Man," as well as his current smash, "Treasure." Mars is nominated in four "Video Music Award" categories this year, including "Video of the Year," "Best Pop Video," and "Best Male Video" for "Locked Out of Heaven," and "Best Choreography" for "Treasure." His return to the VMA stage this year marks his third performance at the "MTV Video Music Awards" as he performs his upcoming single from Unorthodox Jukebox for the first time live on television
Fresh off of their show-stopping performances at the 2013 "MTV Movie Awards" and 2013 "mtvU Woodie Awards," Macklemore & Ryan Lewis make their VMA debut this year where they will perform their anthem for marriage equality, "Same Love" from their GOLD certified debut album 'The Heist.' This marks the first time an artist has performed at all three of MTV's major music events in a single calendar year. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis received six VMA nods (tying Justin Timberlake in total nominations) including "Video of the Year" for their smash-hit "Thrift Shop," "Best Hip Hop Video," "Best Cinematography," "Best Direction," and "Best Editing" for "Can't Hold Us" featuring Ray Dalton, while "Same Love" received a nod for "Best Video with a Social Message."
To celebrate the upcoming performances, MTV Hits, MTV's 24-hour music channel, will feature a block of Bruno Mars and Macklemore & Ryan Lews performances and music videos starting at 12pm ET.

Bruno Mars, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke have each garnered four nominations. P!nk and Thirty Seconds to Mars are each up for three Video Music Awards. Other notable nominees receiving multiple 2013 "MTV Video Music Award" nods range from the worlds of Pop, Hip-Hop, EDM, R&B and Rock and include previously nominated artists such as Taylor Swift, Drake, fun., Calvin Harris, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs as well as first-time VMA nominees Kendrick Lamar, Lana Del Rey, The Weeknd and Capital Cities. 2013 VMA winners will take home a special-edition Moonman, re-imagined by world-renowned, Brooklyn-based artist KAWS created exclusively for this year's show.
To build anticipation for the show, MTV launched a successful cross platform social campaign, #RoadToTheVMAs, which features the Moonman in a myriad of iconic locations throughout Brooklyn and NYC.
