As our nation recovers from one of the biggest environmental disasters in its history, MTV and "The Real World: New Orleans" are giving fans across the country an easy way to get involved and make an impact. In partnership with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), one of the nation's largest environmental action groups, MTV has introduced a limited-edition Real World: Near Orleans Gulf Recovery t-shirt. The shirt was unveiled during last night's episode of "The Real World: New Orleans," which airs on Wednesday nights at 10 pm et/pt.
"The gushing has stopped and attention has dimmed, but Gulf residents and the surrounding environment need our help more than ever," said Phil Gutis, NRDC communications director. "The devastating impacts of the oil disaster continue, and we can all play a role in helping the local restoration efforts that are an essential part of the long term recovery. Through this t-shirt, MTV is engaging their fans in joining the effort by donating funds and spreading the message that the Gulf still needs our help."
All profits MTV earns from t-shirt sales will go to the NRDC's Gulf Recovery Fund, assisting local Gulf Coast and New Orleans non-profit groups working to help people, wildlife, and ecosystems recover from the disaster. The NRDC is also helping lead a charge towards sustainable clean energy solutions that move America into a new era and make oil spills a thing of the past.
