MTV today launched "Power Pics," a new photo caption tool that asks young voters a simple but significant question: how will you use your power in the 2012 elections?

With more than 45 million 18-29 year olds eligible to vote this year, young people have huge power - individually and collectively - and "Power Pics" gives them an easy, visual way to voice the issues they care about, candidates they support and the creative ways they plan to flex their political muscle in 2012. To help kick things off, Pauly D, Dev, Fat Joe, The All-American Rejects and more have already answered the call to action, posting their own "Power Pics" on topics like mobilizing young voters, supporting family and even building a time machine.

The best "Power Pics" will be featured on MTV and across MTV's online properties, including MTV.com, Powerof12.org, MTV Facebook, MTV Twitter and MTV Tumblr. The network also unveiled the MTV "Power of 12" campaign's debut PSA today, "Power of 12: Defined," which served as the inspiration for "Power Pics." Several images from the spot, which reflect many of the most pressing concerns and issues important to young voters this year, are available on Power of 12's new Tumblr, MTVPowerof12.tumblr.com. The site will be updated hourly with new pics throughout the day.

To participate in "Power Pics," users can submit a photo and short caption on Powerof12.org. The pics can be funny or earnest, political or personal - and they don't only have to be about voting, as there are lots of ways to flex your power in an election year. Examples can be found on Pics.Powerof12.org.

"Power Pics" is the newest element of MTV's Power of 12 campaign, which is designed to unleash the exponential power of the Millennial generation in the 2012 elections and beyond. Building on MTV's 20-year tradition of informing, engaging and amplifying young voters - which has helped drive some of the biggest youth voter turnouts in U.S. history - the campaign was re-invented for today's youth.
