MTV Jams, the only channel dedicated exclusively to hip hop music and culture, today announced it will begin airing the popular webseries, RapFix Live, beginning today, March 6, at 4pm ET with a special "Hottest MCs" episode that will reveal the third and fourth MCs leading up to the next night's reveal of the top two spots. Additionally, for the first time, MTV Jams is set to invade SXSW and themtvU Woodies Awards and Festival with its inaugural MTV Jams stage.
"With the launch of RapFix Live and the inaugural MTV Jams stage, we're looking to provide hip hop fans even more access to the music, lifestyle, fashion and culture that define this genre," said Amy Doyle, executive vice president of MTV music and talent programming strategy.
Beginning today, MTV Jams will premiere new episodes of RapFix Live, an interactive weekly series that features interviews with hop's hottest rappers, in tandem with the livestream on MTV.com. Today's premiere will feature a special "Hottest MCs" themed episode in which host Sway Calloway will be joined by the always opinionated MTV Hip-Hop Brain Trust as the group convenes once again to debate, dissect, and ultimately declare the #3 and #4 MC in the game right now. The #1 and #2 spots will be revealed during "Hottest MCs in The Game VIII" special on MTV Jams premiering Thursday, March 7 at 10pm ET/ 7pm PT.
For the first time, MTV Jams will invade SXSW and the mtvU Woodies Festival and Awards with the inaugural MTV Jams stage. The stage will host a number of up-and-coming hip-hop acts throughout the day, including MTV Artists to Watch: Joey Bada$$ and Trinidad James, as well as Travi$ Scott.
