THE 11TH HOUR WITH BRIAN WILLIAMS debuts live at 11 p.m. ET Tuesday, September 6 on MSNBC. During the final stretch of the campaign between Labor Day and the election, the weeknight program will provide a unique look at the major political stories of the day, the campaign news breaking at that hour, and the headlines that will lead the next morning. Brian Williams anchors live from MSNBC Election Headquarters in New York's Rockefeller Center.

"This new assignment is a natural extension of the hundreds of hours of political coverage Brian has anchored through this campaign cycle so far," said MSNBC President Phil Griffin. "He and Rachel Maddow and the team have been great on the big nights, and now he'll build on MSNBC's primetime momentum by taking us live into the 11pm hour every night."

"We want a broadcast that will feel like a continuation of the conversation we've had all during this unprecedented campaign season," said Williams. "As the general election ramps up, there's an opportunity to assess and discuss the campaign at the end of each day. With the help of the very best team in the business, we hope to offer some closure and sanity in addition to previewing where the campaigns are headed next."

In August 2016, MSNBC beat CNN across the board during weekday primetime (Mon-Fri 8-11 p.m.), and among total viewers at 11 p.m. During primetime coverage of the 2016 Democratic National Convention in July, MSNBC consistently topped FOX News, ABC, and CBS across the board every night. For both conventions, more Americans turned to NBC News and MSNBC combined than any other broadcast or cable television network.

Patrick Burkey is executive producer of "The 11th Hour with Brian Williams."
