MSNBC Longform Hires Lauren Frasca as VP, Development

In an effort to expand the development team, MSNBC Longform has hired Lauren Frasca to be Vice President, Development and Nina Weinstein as Director, Development for the MSNBC Longform unit. Frasca will report to Michael Rubin, Vice President, MSNBC Longform and will oversee the development of all future longform projects including interfacing with all production partners. Weinstein will help develop new series and will be responsible for quality control of many of projects, as each goes from development, to production, to post production, to premiere.

Frasca served as Vice President, Original Programming at The Weather Channel where she was responsible for overseeing original programming from concept to production and scheduling, as well as setting overall creative and strategic direction of the original programming team. Additionally, she conducted comprehensive strategic evaluation of original programming at TWC and implemented operational, financial and creative changes that resulted in 8 straight quarters of growth, and a significant increase in demo ratings. Previously, Frasca has held positions with Bravo, WALL TO WALL Media, Atlas Media and NBCUniversal, and has developed pilots, series and specials for National Geographic Channel, GSN, The History Channel, and Food Network, to name a few. Lauren has a BA from Tufts University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Weinstein brings to MSNBC Longform an extensive background in television production. Most recently, she served as a Senior Producer for RocknRobin, Robin Roberts' production company. Prior, Weinstein was a Programming Consultant Fusion Television Network. Before joining Fusion, Weinstein served as Executive Producer at Bloomberg TELEVISION where she created the biography documentary series "Game Changer," Developed and supervised long form programming, acquired independent documentaries, and produced digital programming for Bloomberg.com. Prior to Bloomberg, she held various executive production positions at Bravo, National Geographic, Discovery Group, NBC News, CBS News, and Court TV.

Frasca and Weinstein will start in their new roles immediately.
