ESPN's Week 2 MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL game - a Detroit Lions' 24-10 victory over the New York Giants - helped ESPN win the night among all networks (broadcast or cable) in households, viewers and all key male and adult demos (18-34, 18-49 and 25-54) - the second straight Monday that ESPN has won the night in all categories. Yesterday's MNF game also ranked as the No. 1 telecast of the night among households, viewers and all key male and adult demos.
Lions-Giants delivered a total live audience (TV + Streaming) of 12,741,000 average viewers across ESPN,
ESPN2 and
ESPN Deportes.
On ESPN, Lions-Giants averaged a 7.4 US household rating and 12,287,000 viewers, which is up from last year's Eagles-Bears game. The game peaked during the 9:15-9:30 p.m. quarter hour with an 8.6 US household rating and 14,465,000 viewers.
On
ESPN2 and
ESPN Deportes, Lions-Giants averaged a 0.3 Hispanic US household rating.
Additionally, across Twitter and Facebook, MNF was the most social telecast of the night for the second week in a row.
In Detroit, the game delivered an 11.3 rating on
ESPN and a 17.4 rating on WXYZ-ABC, for a combined 28.7 rating in the market. In New York, the game delivered a 9.4 rating on
ESPN and a 5.4 on WPIX-CW, for a combined 14.8 rating in the market.
The top 10 metered markets (not including those of the competing teams): New Orleans (13.8), Norfolk (12.9), Philadelphia (12.5), Richmond-Petersburg (12.1), Washington, DC (11.0), Buffalo (10.7), Atlanta (10.4), Las Vegas (10.3), Baltimore (10.2) and Denver (10.1). Note: we do not have ratings data for Miami or Ft. Myers-Naples.
ESPN's
MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL returns next week with the Dallas Cowboys vs. Arizona Cardinals from University of Phoenix Stadium on September 25 (8:15 p.m. ET).
