The Paley Center for Media today announced it has selected four outstanding programs to kick off the PaleyLive Fall 2018 season including: Meeting Amanpour and Company; Special Preview: Basketball: A Love Story; True Crime, The ID Way; and Special Preview: New Amsterdam. A limited number of tickets will be on sale for these highly anticipated programs, with tickets first available to Paley Patron, Supporting, and Individual Members. Complimentary tickets to Meeting Amanpour and Company are available to Paley Members only.

On September 10 WNET and CNN will launch an exciting new public affairs series, Amanpour and Company. Paley Center members will get a behind-the-scenes look at this wide-ranging, and insightful program featuring smart conversations led by one of the world's leading journalists, Christiane Amanpour. The show will feature in-depth interviews with global thought leaders, encompassing politics, business, and technology to arts, Science and sports. Amanpour will be joined in discussion by her first-class team of correspondents: Walter Isaacson, Michel Martin, Alicia Menendez, and Hari Sreenivasan, with Neal Shapiromoderating. The group will discuss the new journalistic endeavor and the process of creating an innovative later-night program.

The Paley Center is pleased to preview the pilot of NBC's eagerly anticipated medical series, New Amsterdam, about a confident and smart incoming medical director Dr. Max Goodwin who seeks to shake up the bureaucracy of an underfunded and underappreciated public hospital. Working with doctors Helen Sharpe, Floyd Reynolds, and Lauren Bloom, Iggy Frome and Vijay Kapoor. Goodwin pushes for the hospital to return to focusing on the needs of patients. New Amsterdam is inspired by Dr. Eric Manheimer's Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital, a memoir reflecting on his 15 years as Medical Director of America's oldest public hospital.

The Paley Center will present a special preview of highlights from Dan Klores' highly anticipated Basketball: A Love Story, a monumental film that will debut on ESPN in October. We will screen several of the short stories that help to create a MOSAIC about the game with an emotional pull on fans around the world. Klores, a Peabody Award recipient, has interviewed more than 160 players, coaches, executives and reporters to illuminate all aspects of the basketball universe, from the artistry to the social issues to the business. After the screening, our illustrious panelists including Klores, legendary player Earl Monroe, former NBA Commissioner David Stern, and moderator Jackie "Mac" MacMullan will discuss why basketball is especially thriving in the digital age.
True Crime, The ID Way

Cable's Investigation Discovery - ID - has consistently presented hard-hitting, powerful coverage of true-crime cases since 2008, when it was an early leader in recognizing America's infatuation with the genre. With its current offerings-On the Case with Paula Zahn, Scene of the Crime with Tony Harris, Deadline: Crime with Tamron Hall, and The Real Story with Maria Elena Salinas-the channel provides viewers with valuable insights into the criminal investigatory process and the human cost of violent crime on not just the victims, but also their survivors. The Paley Center assembles a panel of ID hosts including Paula Zahn, Tamron Hall, and Tony Harris for an exploration of the professional, legal, and ethical challenges faced by journalists working in this genre. Henry S. Schlieff, group president of ID, the Travel Channel, Destination America, and American Heroes Channel, will be on hand to introduce the event.
