"Meet the Press with Chuck Todd" (MTP) is the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board for the July Sweeps period, winning its third straight sweeps.
An average of 2.874 million total viewers tuned into the broadcast during the sweeps period, +284,000 (+11 percent) more than ABC's "This Week" and +127,000 (five percent) more than CBS' "Face the Nation." In total viewers, this is the third consecutive sweeps in which MTP has beat CBS and the 11thstraight sweeps in which the broadcast has beat ABC - its best streak in more than six years (since February 2012). Since May Sweeps this year, MTP has increased its lead over CBS by +40 percent (+36,000). Compared to last year, MTP has grown its lead over ABC by +122 percent (+156,000) and its margin over CBS by +174,000 - its best July advantages over both networks in seven years (since 2011).
An average of 746,000 A25-54 demo viewers - the audience most valued by news advertisers - tuned into MTP during July Sweeps: +104,000 (+16 percent) more than ABC and +176,000 (+31 percent) more than CBS. This marks the 11thstraight sweep in which MTP is #1 in the key demo, its best streak in more than nine years (since May 2009). Compared to May Sweeps of this year, MTP's advantages over the competition only grew: +30 percent (+24,000) over ABC and +18 percent (27,000) over CBS.
Season to date, MTP continues as the #1 most-watched Sunday show across the board for the second straight year. With total viewers, MTP beats ABC by +481,000 (+16 percent) and CBS by +116,000 (four percent) - its best lead over ABC in six years (since 2011-2012) and over CBS in seven years (since 2010-2011). The broadcast leads the competition in the key demo by double-digits: +153,000 (+19 percent) more than ABC and +220,000 (+30 percent) more than CBS.
This past Sunday, MTP was pre-empted for coverage of the British Open. The broadcast is back this Sunday, July 29.
