MEET THE PRESS Tops Sunday Morning as #1 Public Affairs Hour for 11/4

On the Sunday before election day, "Meet the Press with David Gregory" was the top-rated Sunday morning public affairs hour for the week ending November 4, 2012, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

“Meet the Press” attracted 3.226 million total viewers, leading This Week by +12% (+340,000), the Face The Nation Hour by +36% (+851,000), and FOX News Sunday by +106% (+1,660,000).

“Meet the Press” delivered an additional 1,303,000 total viewers and 604,000 A25-54 viewers with rebroadcasts -- 730,000 total viewers and 454,000 A25-54 viewers on the network, and 573,000 total viewers and 150,000 A25-54 viewers on MSNBC.

In Washington, DC, “Meet the Press” averaged 75,000 total viewers (3.3/9 HH), +14% ahead of the Face The Nation hour’s 66,000 viewers (2.5/7 HH), +50% over FOX News Sunday’s 50,000 viewers (1.6/4 HH), and +159% more than This Week’s 29,000 viewers (0.9/2 HH).

Other Highlights:
In rating A25-54, “Meet the Press” topped This Week by +13% (+1 tenth), the Face The Nation hour by +50% (+3 tenths), and topped FOX News Sunday by +80% (+4 tenths).
“Meet the Press” averaged 1,057,000 A25-54 (000) viewers, leading This Week by +16% (+144,000), the Face The Nation Hour by +56% (+378,000), and FOX News Sunday by +64% (+411,000).
Versus the same broadcast last season, “Meet the Press” was up in total viewers (+8%, or +246,000), rating W/M/A18-49 (+40%/+40%/+40%), and rating M/A25-54 (+43%/+13%).
Compared to its 4Q’12/season-to-date average, “Meet the Press” was also up in total viewers (+7%, or +219,000), rating W/M/A18-49 (+40%/+17%/+40%) and rating W/M/A25-54 (+14%/+25%/+13%).
Season-to-date, “Meet the Press” has grown in total viewers (+7%, or +203,000), rating A18-49 (+20%), and rating W/M/A25-54 (+14%/+14%/+14%) versus the comparable season-to-date period last year.

Sunday’s edition of “Meet the Press” featured interviews with White House senior adviser David Plouffe and House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA); analysis of the latest NBC/WSJ poll numbers from NBC News political director Chuck Todd; and a roundtable conversation with Newark Mayor Cory Booker (D), MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, GOP strategist Mike Murphy, "TODAY" co-host Savannah Guthrie, and NBC’s Tom Brokaw.
