According to Nielsen Media Research data, "Meet the Press with David Gregory" was the top-rated Sunday morning public affairs program for the week ending March 6, 2011. The NBC program attracted 3.463 million total viewers, +26% (+709,000) more than second place CBS' 2.754 million viewers, a +43% advantage (+1,040,000) over third place ABC's 2.423 million viewers, and a +167% (+2,165,000) lead over FOX News Sunday's 1.298 million viewers.
"Meet the Press" has now placed first in total viewers for 480 of the past 486 weeks (when everyone is at full coverage). The program delivered an additional 1,204,000 viewers with rebroadcasts - 556,000 viewers on the network and 648,000 viewers on MSNBC.
In Washington, D.C., "Meet the Press" beat the competition with 100,000 viewers (3.4/8 HH), +85% more than FOX News Sunday's 54,000 viewers (2.3/6 HH), +270% over "Face The Nation's" 27,000 viewers (1.1/3 HH), and +614% ahead of "This Week's" 14,000 viewers (0.5/1 HH).
In homes nationally, the NBC broadcast topped the competition with a 2.5 rating and 7 share. CBS came in second with 1.9/5, ABC followed in third place with 1.7/5 and FOX was last with 0.9/3. "Meet the Press" has now placed first in households for 578 of the past 582 weeks (when everyone is at full coverage).
Among adults 25-54, the NBC Sunday morning program placed first with 1,127,000 viewers, CBS came in second with 953,000 viewers, ABC was third with 733,000 viewers and FOX News placed last with 488,000 viewers. For the week ending March 6, 2011, in A25-54 "Meet the Press" outperformed CBS by +18%, ABC by +54%, and FOX by +131%.
Season-to-date, "Meet the Press" has grown in total viewers (+17,000) and rating M/A25-54 (+13%/+13%) versus the comparable period last season. "Meet the Press" now leads second-place "Face the Nation" by +17% (+484,000) in total viewers and +28% (+241,000) in A25-54 (000), and third-place "This Week" by +39% (+927,000) in total viewers and +40% (+312,000) in A25-54.
On its digital platforms, "Meet the Press" generated nearly 314,000 online video streams from March 4 through March 9. The "Meet the Press" video podcast (available at WWW.MTP.MSNBC.COM/) remains the top ranked network Sunday Morning program podcast on iTunes.
Last week, "Meet the Press" featured exclusive interviews with White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN). Washington Post columnist EuGene Robinson and New York Times columnist and author of "The Social Animal" David Brooks joined the roundtable.
