Gordon Ramsay and MASTERCHEF JUNIOR have dropped plans to air an episode featuring a chimpanzee this season, perhaps because of a complaint from PETA.
PETA read about the unaired episode on Facebook, and sent the producers a note regarding the mistreatment of chimpanzees in film and television. The MASTERCHEF producers responded with this statement, "We did tape a segment with a properly supervised chimpanzee under the on-set supervision of the American Humane Association, but for creative reasons we do not plan to include any of that material in any of our episodes."
In gratitude, PETA says Chef Ramsay and the producers "will be receiving some yummy vegan chimpanzee-shaped chocolates as our thanks."
MASTERCHEF JUNIOR is television's No. 1 cooking show among Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers, currently averaging 6.0 million total viewers. The Season Three premiere of MASTERCHEF JUNIOR bowed to +6% increase from its Season Two finale. The MASTERCHEF franchise has been nominated for two People's Choice Awards, two Critics' Choice Television Awards, one TEEN CHOICE Award and won the 2013 Emmy Award for Outstanding Art Direction for a Multi-Camera Series.

In tonight's all-new episode, "Easy As Pie," airing 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT on
FOX, three of the junior home cooks will face a sweet competition as they race to top all of their pies with whipped meringue. The winner of the challenge will not only get a major advantage in the next challenge, but also will help the judges get a slice of victory. After a fun and messy competition, the judges task the kids with their first team competition, during which each pair must create their own sausage dishes.
