Mary Elizabeth Boylan's hilarious and deeply personal film Getting Lemons has been nominated for Best U.S. Short Film at the 3rd annual Film Festival of Columbus (FFOCOL) and will screen during the festival on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 7:00 PM EST.
'My heart is in a state of pandemonium!' laughs Boylan, 'I can't wait for Getting Lemons to screen in front of my home audience, it's nerve-racking, but it's an honor to be able to bring my work back here to Ohio where I got started. My Ohio roots inspired so much of this film.'
Boylan was seen most recently as the female lead in the award-winning horror thriller Antisocial Behavior (2014), playing the girlfriend of a socially awkward artist whose forgotten past emerges and incites his disturbing descent into madness.
'It's only our third year and the festival is already growing exponentially,' explains animated Festival President John Daugherty. 'We have international films, short films, animated films, feature length films; we have exploded in a relatively short period of time. Having filmmakers like Mary Elizabeth Boylan, who are also Ohio natives really puts it over the top for me.'
The weeklong festival runs from Thursday, October 9 through October 16, 2014. Audience voting will determine the winner in the category of Best U.S. Short.
